INTERESTING NEWS: Aston Villa is in a transfer competition with other elite Premier League clubs for a top cornerback prospect.

Aston Villa have been one of the smartest buyers on the transfer market in recent years, making good on their promise to back Unai Emery as much as possible.

The Lions are in the thick of the Champions League race this season, and they are currently six points clear of Tottenham, albeit with the advantage of having two games in hand.

Moussa Diaby is the latest example of Aston Villa making serious moves on the transfer market, and they are expected to be even more aggressive in 2024 with the Champions League potentially on the horizon.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Aston Villa have begun to show interest in Juventus loanee Dean Huijsen, who is one of the most highly-prized young center backs in Serie A.

Huijsen is currently on loan at another top Italian club, AS Roma, where he has made three starts an even scored two goals. The 18-year-old is ready to take a big step in his career with more responsibility, and he could get that at Aston Villa.

Per Gazzetta, Juventus are expected to be willing to sell Huijsen for 30-35 million euros. While that is expensive for a player without much of a track record, it is affordable for a player with Huijsen’s talent and upside.

Aston Villa have made smart signings at center back on the transfer market, namely Pau Torres, who had won the Europa League against Manchester United while at Villarreal where Unai Emery was his manager.

Huijsen is a part of a Roma side driving for Champions League qualification themselves. For some bizarre reason, Juventus are selling off their top young talnets, and Aston Villa could benefit big time.
