JUST IN; Major setback for West Ham as Villa reportedly plans to recruit a 25-year-old this summer; a £68 million bid is required

West Ham United face strong competition from Aston Villa for the signing of Pedro Goncalves this summer it seems.

Pedro Goncalves has been on fire for Sporting this season, and his form has piqued the interest of West Ham and Aston Villa it seems.

According to a report from O Jogo, both Hammers boss David Moyes and Villans manager Unai Emery are keen to bring him to the Premier League this summer.

We were actually linked with a move to sign the Portuguese star back in January, but he remained with Sporting in the end.

Now West Ham could go back in for the 25-year-old, but we could face a very big problem…

I think Goncalves would be a terrific signing for West Ham, and he’s attacking output would take us to another level.

Wolves sold the attacker to Famalicao back in 2019, before he eventually moved on to Sporting a year later.

He has been a huge hit with the Portuguese giants, bagging 73 goals and 48 assists in 168 games (Transfermarkt).

121 goal involvements since 2020 is quite the return isn’t it. This season, he has 15 goals and 14 assists in 39 games to his name. The right-footed attacker can play on either wing or in the number 10 position.

The 25-year-old has a £68 million release clause inserted into his current contract with Sporting, according to O Jogo, and the Portuguese outfit apparently don’t want to sell him for much less than that amount.

Pedro Goncalves is a truly exceptional talent, and I’d absolutely love him at West Ham, but it seems as though Aston Villa could cause us real problems this summer.

If Moyes really wants the former Wolves man, he had better act fast.
