Oklahoma extends offer to a 5-star 2026 quarterback recruit.
On Monday morning, the Sooners gave their first signal caller for the 2026 recruiting class.

Oklahoma has finally made an offer to a sophomore quarterback after months of looking.

On Monday morning, Seth Littrell and his team made an offer to Jared Curtis, a 5-star passer from Nashville Christian School (TN) in the 2026 recruiting class.

Curtis, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 225 pounds, is ranked as the top player in the country by 247Sports and has already had offers from Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, and many other schools.

Curtis, despite his young, is a strong runner with impressive arm strength.

The Sooners also offered Legend Bey, a 2026 Horn (TX) quarterback, a few months ago, but the athletic playmaker appears to be considered as a wide receiver at the next level by the OU coaching staff.

Even though Curtis’ recruitment is still in its early stages, expert projections from several recruiting websites place him at either Georgia or Ohio State.

With 30 offers already, including from some of the nation’s finest programs, the Sooners will face a difficult task in luring Curtis away from some of the other colleges vying for the 5-star signal caller.

Nonetheless, Oklahoma’s history of success at quarterback may aid Littrell and company in their pursuit of the big-armed quarterback. In the 2023 recruiting class, OU was able to get 5-star quarterback Jackson Arnold over a bevy of other prestigious universities such as Ohio State, Notre Dame, LSU, and more.

Arnold’s recruitment differed in two ways: the coaching staff and the proximity to home.

Arnold committed to the Sooners under previous offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby, who has since gone to become Mississippi State’s head coach. In addition, Lebby received pledges from 4-star quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. and 3-star signal caller Brendan Zurbrugg in the 2024 class, as well as 4-star passer Kevin Sperry in the 2025 cycle.

So far, the Sooners’ new offensive coordinators, Littrell and Joe Jon Finley, have been able to keep Hawkins Jr., Zurbrugg, and Sperry on board, with the two 2024 quarterbacks starting classes at OU last week.

Sperry renewed his commitment to the Sooners in December, stating that he had “locked in” with Brent Venables and Oklahoma.

Choosing both Littrell and Finley could keep Sooners away from Lebby's biggest failures

With Littrell at the helm of the Sooners’ offense, the newest play caller will need to demonstrate that he can compete with some of the greatest teams in the country on the recruiting road if OU hopes to land Curtis.
