The Seahawks will meet with the Ravens’ coach on Tuesday.

The Seattle Seahawks are one of two teams still looking for their next head coach, having parted ways with Pete Carroll earlier this summer.

The franchise has previously met with a few prospects, but has lately added a new potential hire from the Baltimore Ravens: defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald.

He will allegedly meet with Seahawks general manager John Schneider and the rest of the team’s leadership on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano.

Macdonald has been a popular head coaching prospect all year after orchestrating the NFL’s best defense this season.

He took over two years ago, after managing the Michigan Wolverines’ defense for one season.

From 2014 until 2020, Macdonald served as a Ravens coach in a variety of roles.

The Seahawks, meantime, are looking for their first head coach since 2010, after moving Carroll to a front-office position this summer.

Carroll might potentially take another head coaching job in the future, but it looks he will stay in Seattle as an advisor in 2024.

The Seahawks missed the playoffs this year after an up-and-down season, but they appear to be set to begin a new era in Seattle.

Former Seattle Seahawks and current Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, as well as Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, have spoken with the franchise regarding the head coaching position.

The Washington Commanders are the second team looking for a head coach, which may leave the Seahawks with the only available position in the NFL if they make their hiring choice before Seattle does.

The Lions and Ravens seasons concluded on Sunday, and the Seahawks are slated to interview them the following day.

The hunt to replace Pete Carroll has been ongoing for nearly three weeks, but according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, things might be wrapped up fast now that the Detroit Lions and Baltimore Ravens’ seasons have ended.

The Ravens lost 17-10 to the Kansas City Chiefs, while the Detroit Lions blew a 24-7 halftime lead in the third quarter before falling 34-31 to the San Francisco 49ers. With the results final, Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald became available for interviews, which is exactly what the Seahawks plan to do, according to Pelissero.

So, as indicated in the tape, it’s a developing scenario because both coordinators’ seasons finished on Sunday, but Pelissero says the Seahawks will be in Detroit to interview Johnson on Monday afternoon before interviewing Macdonald on Tuesday morning. With all of the final head coaching candidates for both the Seahawks and the Washington Commanders now free to interview, Pelissero believes things might be wrapped up this week, possibly within the next 48 hours.
