IMMIDIATE REPORTS: Newcastle United is interested in a £35 million Premier League player, and Southampton is prepared to let him go on loan.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is willing to let Newcastle United target Aaron Ramsdale leave the club on loan this summer, reports suggest.

Ramsdale has fallen out of favour at the Gunners since the arrival of former Brentford stopper David Raya for £27million following a successful spell on loan last season.

The 26-year-old was limited to just six Premier League appearances in the last campaign but still found himself in the 26-man squad that made the finals of the European Championships earlier this month.

With Raya looking set to remain the number-one goalkeeper at Arsenal, Ramsdale is on the hunt for consistent first-team football.

Newcastle have already signed two goalkeepers this summer

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has already signed two goalkeepers this transfer window in Odysseas Vlachodimos and John Ruddy, with the former looking like he will currently act as the second-choice keeper with Martin Dubravka reportedly set to leave.

Nick Pope needs competition and Ramsdale looks like the best option for that. The Magpies seem unwilling to pay the £35m that Arsenal are looking for, so a loan deal looks more reasonable at this time.

The Gunners have already signed a new goalkeeper in Tommy Stetford from Ajax who could be the replacement to Ramsdale should he leave this summer.

Newcastle face competition from Southampton for Aaron Ramsdale

The Magpies aren’t the only team eyeing a move for Ramsdale, according to GIVEMESPORT, newly promoted Southampton are also looking for more strength between the sticks and believes that Ramsdale is the perfect option for them.

Ramsdale, who played every minute for Arsenal in the 2022/23 season wants to rediscover his form and a move away may be the only way to do that.

As it stands, Ramsdale isn’t close to a move away but with well over a month left in the transfer window that stance could change.
