Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is dealing with a spate of pre-season injuries ahead of next week’s tour of Japan.

Howe has already confirmed that Callum Wilson has a back injury and it remains to be seen whether he will be fit for the big kick off.

It is also understood that Newcastle are being cautious with both Lloyd Kelly, Tino Livramento and Sean Longstaff with the trio carrying concerns going into the weekend clash with Hull City and next week’s games in Japan against Urawa Red Diamonds and Yokohama F Marinos.

Kelly suffered three different injuries with Bournemouth last season with calf, muscle and hip problems while Howe is also biding his time with Joe Willock. The former Arsenal midfielder was described as “working his way back” after achilles and hamstring injuries sustained last season.

Left-back Matt Targett, last seen in action in November, was not in Germany last week and worked at the training ground while Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman were also initially ruled out until December but the Dutchman was filmed training this week.

Howe also has Lewis Miley in rehab after the player broke his foot in an off season running exercise and went under the knife earlier this month.
