JUST NOW; £30m player on the verge of departing his club after being widely linked to West Ham.

A rumoured West Ham United target is on the verge of leaving his current club this summer transfer window.

West Ham have made a positive start to the window having already added Max Kilman, Wes Foderingham and Luis Guilherme to their ranks.

They’re keen to bring in another central defender with Jean-Clair Todibo a player of interest, however, he looks set to join Juventus.

But, they have other options on their shortlist and one of them is said to be close to leaving his current club.

Jake O’Brien close to leaving Lyon

According to Santi Aouna, Lyon centre-back Jake O’Brien is close to leaving the club this summer transfer window.

It’s not yet known which club are in the driving seat but Everton and Brentford have been named as potential destinations.

Aouna stresses that many clubs are pushing to sign the 23-year-old, so there’s a chance The Hammers could be one of them given their well-documented interest.

Jake O’Brien price tag

O’Brien is expected to cost suitors around £30m this summer, so clearly, he’ll only really be a feasible addition for clubs in the Premier League and the elite around Europe.

The 2001-born’s stock has dramatically risen since his departure from Crystal Palace’s under-21s last year.

After impressing in his debut campaign in Ligue 1, O’Brien made his senior debut for the Republic of Ireland in June.

According to FBref data, the young defender is of a similar profile to Real Madrid’s Antonio Rudiger and Arsenal’s Gabriel, so he has the necessary traits to cut it at the top level.
