RIGHT ABOUT NOW; Hull City join Cardiff City in Leicester City player race.

Kasey McAteer has attracted interest from a couple of Championship sides.

According to journalist Darren Witcoop on XHull City are the latest team to have taken an interest in the attacker, who played a part in guiding Leicester City back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The Foxes, who lost Harvey Barnes last summer, richly benefitted from having McAteer at their disposal, with his contributions proving to be important.

It’s a shame for him that injury issues disrupted part of his campaign, because without them, he could have been even more effective under Enzo Maresca, who gave him the opportunity to shine on a regular basis.

McAteer proved to be particularly effective during the early stages of last term, registering a brace at Rotherham United and also scoring away at Southampton, who also went on to be promoted at the end of the 2023/2 campaign.

But with the player spending the latter stages of the season either out of action or mostly on the bench, it remains to be seen whether he will be an important player under Steve Cooper during the 2024/25 season and beyond.

With Abdul Fatawu signing permanently and Bobby Decordova-Reid also arriving, that could limit McAteer’s time on the pitch.

It would also be a big ask for the player to make the step up to the Premier League and be a formidable wing option at the top level, even though he impressed at times last season.

It’s unclear whether they would be able to sign McAteer permanently at some point, but at 22, the Foxes will be hoping that the winger can return to the King Stadium Stadium a better player and play a vital role for them in the future.

And at this stage, it’s also unclear whether the Foxes are even prepared to let him go out on loan this summer, with the player starting in a pre-season friendly yesterday.
