Aston Villa have a “concrete interest” in signing Spain sensation Nico Williams, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Villa have had a “long-term” interest in the winger.

The 22-year-old dazzled during the 2024 Euros as he helped Spain win the competition, including scoring a goal in the final.

His performances, coupled with the fact he has a £49million release clause in his Athletic Bilbao contract have earned him plenty of admirers.

Even though Villa are in pursuit of Williams, sources claim that a deal might be out of their reach this summer.

Despite securing Champions League football last season, it is believed it will be difficult to persuade Williams to make the move to Villa Park.
