NEWS REPORT: The manager of Inter Miami provides an update on Diego Gomez’s transfer to Brighton.

 

 

 

Tata Martino has shared the latest news  on Diego Gomez’s pending transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion, with the midfielder closing in on a move to England.

News broke this weekend that the Paraguay international is set to make the switch to the Seagulls this summer, with Inter Miami set to bank as much as $17m for Gomez, who will remain in Florida until the end of the year.

Gomez has emerged this season as on one of Inter Miami’s best players, playing a key role in the starting XI as both a central midfielder and a winger, where the 21-year-old has thrived under Martino in multiple roles.

And the Inter Miami man has shared the latest on Gomez’s move to Brighton.

Martino hopeful Gomez can remain with Inter Miami until the end of the year

Speaking to the press after last night’s win against the Chicago Fire, Martino confirmed that Gomez’s move to Brighton is a question of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’, with the Inter Miami boss hopeful that the youngster can remain with the Herons until the end of the year.

 

 

 

Indeed, Gomez’s move to Brighton could be made official as early as next week, and Martino was accepting that the deal will be going through it what will be a landmark transfer for the Herons.

Martino said when asked about Gomez’s pending move to Brighton later this summer: “It is more than just interest from Brighton in Diego, and sooner or later this was going to happen.

“In a year and a half with us he has demonstrated his quality. We’d love to keep him until the end of the year, but we don’t know when he will go. I think that particular Premier League club would be a good place for him.”
