Latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip with updates on Newcastle star Anthony Gordon and former Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot

Liverpool are currently busy stepping up their plans for pre-season training ahead of the new Premier League campaign. The Reds will soon head to the United States for three friendly fixtures against Real Betis, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Arne Slot is the new head coach of Liverpool and has been busy assessing his squad at the AXA Training Centre this month. A friendly took place this week against Preston North End behind closed doors at Kikby which ended in a 1-0 defeat for the Reds.

Work will now be underway as Liverpool look ahead to their Premier League opener against Ipswich Town on August 17. There is also the matter of the summer transfer window which remains open and in full swing despite the Reds not yet completing their first signing.

Here is a round-up of what has been said about Liverpool in the media across the last 24 hours.

Anthony Gordon has been advised against a move away from Newcastle amid links with Liverpool. The Reds were offered the chance to sign Gordon last month but rejected the opportunity for a deal that would have seen Jarell Quansah move in the other direction.

Gordon continues to be linked with a move to Liverpool, and now the former Everton star has been sent some advice. Former Manchester United star Louis Saha has explained why Gordon would be better off remaining at Newcastle amid rumours of a move to Anfield.

“I’m not surprised that there’s interest in him because he’s been showing the signs of a player that wants to develop as quickly as possible,” Saha told Betfred.
