Branthwaite had agreed personal terms ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford, which would have seen him earn £160,000-a-week.

According to The Mirror, Everton are prepared to offer Branthwaite a lucrative new contract as they look to keep him at the club.

Branthwaite currently earns around £40,000-a-week but that is set to increase significantly.

United spent £52million to bring in 18-year-old centre-back Leny Yoro.

In addition, Erik ten Hag’s side are also considering a move for Bayern Munich defender Matthijs De Ligt.

Everton have reportedly informed United that further approaches for Branthwaite are not welcome.
