RIGHT NOW; Bristol City latest: QPR/Stoke City transfer boost, Antoine Semenyo comparison, Exeter City player chase.

Bristol City will be hoping to challenge for promotion from the Championship next season.

It was another inconsistent campaign for the Robins last season as they finished 11th in the table, but they lost just two of their final 10 games to offer supporters plenty of hope going into the summer.

It has been a busy start to the summer as head coach Liam Manning looks to rebuild his squad, and City have brought in two new signings so far, with Fally Mayulu making a permanent move from Rapid Wien and Yu Hirakawa joining on loan from Machida Zelvia.

There have also been a number of departures, with senior players such as Matty James, Andy King and Andreas Weimann being released at the end of their contracts, while Jamie Knight-Lebel, Seb Palmer-Houlden and Ephraim Yeboah have all made loan moves elsewhere.

With over a month until the end of the transfer window, there are likely to be further incomings and outgoings for the Robins, and we rounded up all the latest news from Ashton Gate.

Robins face Stoke City competition

Sinclair Armstrong

Journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed on Monday night that the Robins were in “advanced talks” to sign Queens Park Rangers striker Sinclair Armstrong.

Armstrong scored four goals and provided three assists in 40 appearances in all competitions to help the R’s to Championship survival last season, and he made his senior debut for the Republic of Ireland at international level in September.

The Hoops took up their option to extend Armstrong’s contract by a further year this summer, and while he has been offered a longer-term deal at Loftus Road, it seems unlikely he will commit his future to the club.

City are believed to have opened talks over a potential deal for Armstrong last week, but the move is yet to be completed, and according to West London Sport, Stoke City are also “expected to submit an offer” for the 21-year-old.

The good news for the Bs3 outfit is that reports suggest that the Potters need to offload players before they can sign the Rs rising star.
