The club are keen on adding to their attack and HITC reported that they enquired to West Ham United about the services of English winger Jarrod Bowen but the Hammers told the Lilywhites that he was not for sale.

As well as this, the club are also understood to be keen on a midfield addition with Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher said to be of interest from those at North London.

Real Betis remain coy on potential Lo Celso signing

As a result of their interest in a midfield addition, the future of Argentine midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is currently up in the air after he featured in 22 Premier League games but he certainly not one of the first choice options for Postecoglou.

Former club Real Betis have been heavily linked with a move for the Argentine international but they have poured cold water on a deal being imminent.

“He is a Tottenham player, and we owe respect to his entity. He left very good memories here, but it is still a remote option,” Real Betis president Manu Fajardo told Mucho Deporte.

“It is an important market for our growth. A beautiful and exciting market,” added Vice President José Miguel López Catalán.

There is a roadmap. The objective is to improve the squad, to face the season in the best possible way. We face this market in a clearer way. There are two positions to cover. That of the center back and the left side.

“That makes us start there. For the rest, operation by operation based on economic limitations. But there is a good base and that allows us to work without haste and panic.”

Postecoglou remains a fan of Lo Celso despite rumours of summer move

As mentioned, the midfielder featured in just 22 of the 38 Premier League games for the North London club last season and was third choice option for Postecoglou.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Pape Sarr were the preferred options for Postecoglou but the Australian appears to be a big fan of Lo Celso.

Following Spurs’ 3-1 win over Bournemouth back in December, the former Celtic boss was keen to praise the impact of Lo Celso.

“Gio was very good today, not just with his work rate but you could see his quality on the ball,” Postecoglou told the Evening Standard.

“His passes through and the one through to Sonny was outstanding. We needed him today and we’re going to need him going forward because Sonny goes away now, Biss goes away, Pape goes away. So I thought he was a good contributor.”
