Spurs reportedly agree personal terms with striker
Transfersdotcom, who had previously reported Spurs’ interest in the player, have stated that Tottenham Hotspur have agreed personal terms with Brentford and England striker Ivan Toney.
They also reported that Spurs have had a bid of £40million turned down, with Brentford wanting £65million.
If Brentford holds out for £65 million, this is a non-starter. There is no way Daniel Levy and the Spurs hierarchy pay that money for a 28-year-old with one year on his existing contract.
However, due to the aforementioned contract situation, it would be surprising if Brentford didn’t eventually cave in and accept a lower offer.
If that is the case, it depends on the middle ground. Can Spurs and Brentford agree on a fee between 40 and 65 million pounds? Or maybe Brentford do eventually see 40 million as an acceptable offer and enough to bring a replacement in?
Toney was an unused sub in England’s 1-0 victory over Serbia on Monday night, having played the final half an hour in England’s embarrassing 1-0 defeat at home to Iceland in their final warm-up friendly.
He will be desperate for some minutes at some point over the next couple of games to try and showcase what he can do on the big stage.
Toney has made no secret of his desire to play at a bigger club than Brentford and has been outspoken on a number of occasions on the topic.
Turkish newspaper Sabah (h/t Sport Witness) has reported that Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and Manchester City have sent scouts to Germany to closely monitor Semih Kilicsoy during Euro 2024.
The 18-year-old forward from Besiktas has emerged as a target for these English giants following a breakout season in the Turkish Super Lig.
Semih Kilicsoy’s rise to prominence began with his impressive performances for Besiktas in the 2023-24 season. Starting in 20 Super Lig matches, he showcased his goal-scoring prowess by netting 11 times, catching the eye of several top clubs across Europe.
His inclusion in Turkey’s squad for EURO 2024 further elevated his profile, providing an opportunity for scouts from Tottenham, Arsenal, and Manchester City to assess his abilities against top international competition.
The interest from these Premier League clubs underscores Kilicsoy’s potential and the impact he has already made at a young age. For Besiktas, his breakthrough campaign has been pivotal, not only in terms of his development but also in attracting significant attention from abroad.
