Ryan Reynolds issued a hilarious response to Wrexham’s massive win over Mansfield Town, insisting the top of the league is a “wasteland of anxiety”.

• WHAT HAPPENED?

  The Welsh side went into the game against the league leaders knowing that a victory was imperative to keeping their dreams of back-to-back promotions alive. Wrexham won 2-0 and Stockport beat MK Dons 5-0 on the same day, meaning that they moved top, with Mansfield now second and Reynolds’ side third. Only one point separates the three teams and automatic promotion may well come down to goal difference although Wrexham’s is the worst of the three, and is 16 goals inferior to Mansfield.

  

  THE BIGGER PICTURE

  Wrexham are entering a crunch period of the season and they have just six games of the season remaining. Amazingly, on the final day of the season, they will play Stockport, which could well prove decisive, and Deadpool superstar Reynolds clearly knows just how stressful the run-in is going to be.

  Wrexham are next in action against Doncaster on Tuesday. Their opponents currently sit 15th, so Phil Parkinson’s side will hope to record another win to further boost their hopes of automatic promotion.
