The pouring March rain could not extinguish the fire of the Red Dragons as Paul Mullin’s double secured a Good Friday victory at home to Mansfield Town.

In front of the Sky Sports cameras, Mullin scored his 98th and 99th career goals for Wrexham – one in each half – on a day in which the changeable Welsh weather saw sun, wind and plenty of showers engulf the STōK Cae Ras.

Mullin tapped in from Andy Cannon’s cross to open the scoring in the first-half, and then doubled the advantage with a thunderous penalty after Luke Bolton was fouled.

Coupled with a resolute defensive performance to shut out the league’s top attacking side, Wrexham claimed all three points to move ahead of Mansfield Town in the Sky Bet League Two table.

The Red Dragons now sit second behind new leaders Stockport County, with the Stags third, with just a solitary point separing the top three.
