SHOCKING NEWS: Webber hold taiks over stoke role -reports.

Norwich City: Stuart Webber linked with Stoke City position

Former Norwich City sporting director Stuart Webber has held talks with Stoke City over a similar position at the bet365 Stadium, according to reports.

The Potters are looking for a new technical director after parting ways with former Canaries academy manager Ricky Martin last month, and are considering Webber to succeed current interim Jonathan Walters.

That’s according to the BBC, with Webber’s 12-month notice period up this month after resigning from his post at Carrow Road last year.

Both Webber and Martin oversaw transfer window overhauls shortly before their respective departures, with the latter heading up a window that saw 18 players arrive at Stoke last summer.

Ex-Norwich boss Alex Neil was sacked in December with the Staffordshire club in relegation trouble, Steven Schumacher replacing him two months before Martin followed his former Norwich colleague out of the exit door.

Webber has been out of work since Ben Knapper took over his role in November, but plans to climb Mount Everest in May after several years of preparation. There was no time frame given to Walters’ interim period, but the English summer transfer window doesn’t open until June.

The Welshman spent more than six years at Norwich, playing a key role in two Championship title wins but facing criticism for failure to keep them in the Premier League on both occasions.

David Wagner’s men travel to Stoke this weekend in a bid to turn their poor away form around, although they’ll be buoyed by their leapfrogging of Hull into the play-off places
