Leeds United: Daniel Farke will be furious as new EFL decision emerges in last 24 hours

Leeds United are enjoying one of their most exciting seasons in recent years as they find themselves in a shootout for an immediate return to the Premier League.

Daniel Farke’s side currently sit between table-toppers Leicester City and third-placed Ipswich Town with nine games left of the season and the Whites will know that they have to continue their recent form to win automatic promotion this season.

However, it has felt as though a couple of factors have emerged to make Leeds’ hunt for the title this season even harder, not least the decision to move a number of the Whites’ games for broadcast on Sky Sports.

Farke’s side haven’t kicked off at 3pm on a Saturday since their 3-0 win over Rotherham United on Saturday 10 February and now they have had another fixture moved to a 12:30pm kick-off to disrupt the German’s plans.

The Championship confirmed via X on Wednesday (13 March) that Leeds’ clash with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday 13 April will now kick off at 12:30 rather than the original 3pm kick-off that had been scheduled.

That means that the Whites will have less recovery time than previously planned following their Tuesday night (9 April) clash with Sunderland. Although it is a minor change, it will almost certainly frustrate Farke and his team.

Will Leeds United win promotion to the Premier League this season?

Leeds United always seem to have more fixtures changed because of the broadcast schedule than most teams in the Championship and Farke has made no secret of his frustrations with the condensed schedule.

So far, the changes haven’t had a huge impact on the Whites’ results as they have managed to beat both Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester City live on Sky Sports, even though both clashes were moved to Friday night kick-offs.

Hopefully, Leeds will continue to pick up results and manage to pip one of, if not both of, Leicester and Ipswich to automatic promotion this season, but it does feel as though the broadcasters are against Farke’s side at the moment.
