BREAKING NEWS; Unai Emery gives injury updates on Ramsey, Torres and McGinn ahead of Aston Villa vs Tottenham.

Jacob Ramsey missed Aston Villa’s Europa Conference League clash with Ajax through injury

Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery has not ruled Jacob Ramsey out of featuring against Tottenham on Sunday.

The midfielder hobbled off in Villa’s 3-2 win at Luton Town last weekend after injuring his foot. After trying to carry on at first, Ramsey was taken off in the 29th minute for Morgan Rogers.

He then missed the trip to Amsterdam for the first leg of Villa’s Europa Conference League round of 16 clash against Ajax, but Emery has hinted that he could yet return to face Spurs.

Asked if Ramsey will be able to feature, Emery said: “Tomorrow we will train for the last time in the week and we will wait for tomorrow.”

Pau Torres came off at half-time in the draw with Ajax, but it was a pre-planned substitution as Emery managed his fitness following recent injury troubles. John McGinn came on in the second half after Emery chose not to take a risk with his captain after he felt a small pain in training on Wednesday morning.

“We trained this morning recovering with the players who played yesterday,” Emery continued. “Pau Torres and John McGinn, they will be available for Sunday.”

Spurs are currently five points behind fourth-placed Villa in the table, but have a game in hand away at Chelsea. A fourth consecutive league victory for Villa this afternoon will give Emery’s side an eight-point cushion in the top four.
