TRENDING NEWS; Djed Spence reveals what he actually thinks of Ange Postecoglou after meeting him in pre-season

Tottenham Hotspur loanee Djed Spence has admitted he was impressed with what he saw from Ange Postecoglou.

The 23-year-old has spent the 2023/24 term out on loan with Leeds United and now Genoa as he looks to play regular first team football.

Djed Spence’s time in Italy is yet to really take off with his future in north London hanging in the balance not even two years after joining.

Djed Spence lauds Ange Postecoglou

The Englishman’s first loan spell this season at Leeds saw the Yorkshire club cut it short during the January transfer window.

After returning to Hotspur Way, Spence was quickly used as part of negotiations to bring Radu Dragusin to north London.

He will now spend the remainder of the campaign with the Serie A side before decisions will surely be made on where his long-term future lies.

Ange Postecoglou is yet to use Spence at Spurs, however, in an interview with The Athletic, Spence spoke about his brief time working under the Australian.

He said: “It’s a big difference with the new manager, I did pre-season with him — he’s a good guy, he has good training sessions, he likes to play football, it’s a new environment at the club. I think everyone’s enjoying it and doing well, I’m pleased for them.”

Djed Spence’s Tottenham future

Given the struggles Spence has had during his various loan spells away from Spurs, it is difficult to imagine him being given a chance under Postecoglou.

It is perhaps not just the fact he has struggled to reach his best form on loan that is the issue.

According to The Athletic’s feature with Spence, Leeds boss Daniel Farke was not pleased with some off-field issues Spence had, as well as his in-game displays.

For a manager like Postecoglou, this has to be a huge concern.

And this all comes at a time when the Australian has one of the best right-backs in the Premier League in Pedro Porro.

Adding to this, The Spurs News has recently been told that Tottenham will be looking for a versatile full-back in the summer window.

It does not look overly promising for Spence ahead of next season if he is looking to make a comeback at Spurs.

He has played just 654 minutes of football all season, but Spurs may be forced to take a loss on their £20m investment given the issues he has had elsewhere.
