Portsmouth have signed former Ipswich midfielder Lee Evans on a contract to the end of the season.

The 29-year-old Wales international was a free agent after leaving Portman Road at the start of February.

League One leaders Pompey have suffered a series of injuries in midfield and Evans will help fill the void.

Evans came through the ranks at Newport, helping them earn promotion to the Football League, and has won promotion from League One with Wolves, Wigan and Ipswich.

Mousinho said: “We’re delighted. He is a hugely experienced footballer and is comfortable with the ball at his feet, but also a physical presence in the middle of the park.”

The Blues are without long-term injured midfielders Alex Robertson and Joe Morrell until the end of the season while Tom Lowery is expected to miss several weeks with a hamstring injury and Chelsea loanee Tino Anjorin is on his way back after four months out through inju
