JUST IN; Ipswich Town star wanted by West Ham and Newcastle United, report claims

Ipswich Town defender Leif Davis is a man in-demand, with Premier League duo Newcastle United and West Ham United eyeing a summer deal according to talkSPORT.

Ipswich Town have surprised plenty this season in how they have mounted a charge on the Championship‘s automatic promotion places. They currently sit in 3rd place in the table and are level on points with 2nd placed Leeds United, behind them only on goal difference.

Ipswich Town star Leif Davis eyed by West Ham and Newcastle

One player who has been integral to their relative successes so far this season has been Davis. The 24-year-old left-back has recorded a joint league high of 12 assists, although he has played less games than both Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Georginio Rutter of Leicester City and Leeds United who have the same number of assists.

Davis’ form has now caught the attention of sides in the division above. According to talkSPORT, both Newcastle United and West Ham United are keen on signing the player, with more sides likely to register an interest should the Tractor Boys not achieve promotion.

The most likely destination?

Not only do Davis’ assist numbers make him an unsurprising target for clubs, but due to his defensive capabilities and impact in a side fighting for promotion too. Should Ipswich Town get promoted he could stay at Portman Road, but if not, a move elsewhere could be on the cards.

Both Newcastle United and West Ham United are in the market for new left-backs and both could be playing in Europe next season. Therefore, Davis will have a huge decision to make on where he plays his football next time out.

The most likely destination out of the two sides interested and staying at his current side could be a move to Newcastle United. Davis was born in Newcastle and moving to his boyhood club could be a dream come true.
