JUST IN; IPSWICH TOWN COLUMN;AFTER A STRONG FEBRUARY,KIERAN McKENNA’S MEN FACE TOUGH TEST AT PLYMOUTH ARGYLE.

Four on the board. After a sticky January, Ipswich Town’s February has been a lot better.

Six games, seventeen goals and four wins, means The Tractor Boys are very much back in the automatic promotion race and look to have hit form again at the perfect time.

Will we get there? Who knows.

One thing for certain is that this club has put itself firmly back on the map and it does feel that the only way is up.

Saturday’s victory over Birmingham was a good one. We deserved it. We were by far the better side and Kieran McKenna will be pleased at how his players stuck to their principles and went onto win the game, as they always seem to do so.

This weekend however, I picture it to be a different test. If you look at the league table as a neutral, then really the Tractor Boys should be heading down to Home Park expecting to pick up all three points.

However, as we’ve come to learn with the Pilgrims in recent years, that’s never going to be easy and I’ll always have a mutual respect for Argyle, who really did give us some fight last year.

Ultimately, it’s us who have had the better time adjusting back to life in the Championship, but I’ve got a funny feeling about this one and really do think we need to be at the very top of our game if we are to get one over them.

Marcus Harness, George Hirst and a particularly humorous Bali Mumba own goal was enough for Town to get the job done last time out and just like it was October, I expect this game to see goals for both sides.

This would be a big win for Town. Again, the league table suggests we should be favourites, but I can’t see anything other than a tricky, awkward and difficult afternoon for McKenna’s men. I’ll go for a 2-2.

After Saturday, Town will have just 11 games remaining in what promises to be a fascinating finish.

Will we do it? I don’t know. Can we do it? Absolutely. This group can do anything.

So come on Town. Let’s roll our sleeves up once more and hopefully we’re celebrating another very sweet victory come Saturday evening.
