JUST IN; 18-goal/assist ace could be Ipswich Town’s ideal Leif Davis replacement amid PL

Ipswich Town have seen left-back Leif Davis become one of their most influential players since signing him from Leeds United in the summer of 2022.

Ipswich Town recruited Davis as part of a busy summer transfer window ahead of the 2022/23 campaign. He quickly became a key figure for the Tractor Boys, aiding their League One promotion charge in a fantastic debut season.

The 24-year-old has maintained the same attacking threat since rising to the Championship too. He’s provided a thoroughly impressive 14 assists in 31 league games this season, helping Kieran McKenna’s side to 3rd in the Championship table.

Now though, perhaps somewhat unsurprisingly, the Ipswich Town ace is claimed to be drawing interest. TalkSPORT has said that Newcastle United and West Ham are both showing an interest in Davis ahead of the summer transfer window.

Of course, time will tell if anything comes of the links. However, if the need arises, an ideal replacement would be Harrison Burrows.

A like-for-like replacement

Davis is Ipswich Town’s leading creative threat. He’s fantastic at delivering from dead balls but also shows potency in-game too, finding joy in driving to the byline and putting balls in and when swinging in from deeper positions.

Those aware of Burrows’ talents will know this sounds familiar. He too is a standout creator for his current side having notched six goals and 12 assists in 42 games across all competitions for Peterborough United this season. After spells in midfield, on the wing and at wing-back, Burrows has settled at left-back, and he looks to be benefitting for it.

He’s only 22 but has played 169 times for the Posh across all competitions. That includes 37 in the Championship, in which he managed three goals and seven assists in a side that ultimately unsuccessfully fought against relegation.

Burrows is a vital player at London Road and his importance to the team could make him pretty costly. After captaining the side on a few occasions before, he’s also assumed the armband in the New Year, emphasising his value to Darren Ferguson’s side but also displaying his leadership and maturity to potential suitors.

His creative abilities could make him an ideal Davis replacement should Ipswich Town lose the former Leeds United ace this summer.
