The Red Devils suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Fulham at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday, ahead of facing Forest in the fifth round of the FA Cup at the City Ground on Wednesday night. And Maguire, who scored against Fulham, has demanded the players respond against Nuno’s Reds.United will once again be missing striker Rasmus Hojlund and Maguire admits it’s a big blow for Erik ten Hag’s side, who have already been defeated at the City Ground this season, losing 2-1 to Forest in the Premier League in December.

“He’s a big player for us,” he said, speaking to MUTV after the Fulham defeat. “We worked all week in training, worked on tactics and shape and he’s been the focal point, leading the press.

“We’re playing balls into him, he’s holding it up, he’s scoring goals and then to lose him yesterday (Friday) was really disappointing, not only are you losing Rasmus but Marcus (Rashford) has been playing well off the left and he’s had to go up front. Garna (Alejandro Garnacho) has been on the right and he’s had to go on the left.Nuno Espirito Santo, Manager of Nottingham Forest, looks on as players of Nottingham Forest wait to face Bristol City on penalties during the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round Replay match between Nottingham Forest and Bristol City at the City Ground on February 07, 2024 in Nottingham, England“You lose that rhythm and I think that showed really in the first 60 minutes of the game when they didn’t make it as frantic as it was in the last 30 minutes.

“So he’s a big player for us and thankfully it’s only a short-term injury and he’ll be back soon. In the short-term, we have to find a solution and we know it will be a tough game in midweek. Our focus is on that one, we’ve got to bounce back and a big reaction is needed.”nuno-espirito-santoMeanwhile, Nottingham Forest could be in “hotter water than Everton” over their FFP charge, according to claims made by top sports finance expert Dr Rob Wilson.
