Jude Bellingham has sent a message of support to brother Jobe after netting during Sunderland’s win over Plymouth Argyle.

Jobe Bellingham joined Sunderland in the summer and has since been an ever-present figure in the starting line-up, having been left out on only two occasions prior to this weekend[

The midfielder had badly needed a rest in recent weeks though, and Michael Beale opted to leave him on the bench for yesterday’s clash with Plymouth and instead brought in Patrick Roberts.

Sunderland had already taken the lead against the Pilgrims when Jobe was introduced as a substitute, but it took only a matter of minutes for the teenager to run practically from the half-way line passed a number of defenders, cut inside and curl the ball into the top corner to make it three for the Black Cats.

After Jobe took to Instagram to celebrate his goal, Jude was one of many to comment on his post. He wrote ‘star boy’, before posting his own photo of Jobe celebrating on his Instagram story, with the caption: ‘Good weekend’

Jobe’s own Instagram story that followed showed a photo of him clapping the supporters with the caption that read: “Pleasure to play here”, followed by a reaction to the Real Madrid star’s brace with a message that read: “El major”.

Jobe Bellingham’s place on the bench was correct and he could well have put on another underwhelming performance if he was forced to be in from the off, but this slight rest should really give him a boost and the goal will do his confidence the world of good.It was a sensible decision from Michael Beale, while all fans want is to see the 18-year-old at his best for the rest of the campaign.
