Forster says Vicario is ‘perfect’ for Postecoglou’s Tottenham

Former Spurs striker Peter Crouch jokingly asked Forster if he hopes Vicario picks up a knock this season.

Crouch joked: “Vicario’s got the jersey at the minute, how have you found him and do you hope he gets injured?”

“He came in the summer and he’s settled in quickly, to be fair,” Forster said. “I think because his English is so good that’s massively helped him. But it is hard when you come to a new club.

“From my side of it, I’m getting a bit older and you’ve been in so many different situations yourself so you can appreciate it’s hard for this lad or that lad.

“He’s been brilliant, the way he’s played. He’s settled in really well, perfect for the way the manager wants to play.”

He added: “Vic’s done really well, he’s flying. That’s the nature of the position – whoever’s playing well holds the jersey.

“You don’t wish injury on anyone, you just hope at some point you’ll play some games.”

Vicario is well-suited to Postecoglou’s demands, largely down to his ability to play out from the back.

But with Tottenham’s brave attacking style, they also require a goalkeeper who excels when it comes to keeping the ball out of the net.

Vicario certainly ticks both boxes and is proving to be an astute piece of business from Tottenham’s point of view.

He’s endured a difficult couple of weeks recently after being targeted by opposition sides from set-piece situations, particularly corners.

Yet, you’d imagine that Spurs will have some kind of plan to take the pressure off Vicario in these situation
