Marcus Rashford prediction by Troy Deeney for Manchester United v West Ham United

Troy Deeney believes that Marcus Rashford’s recent escapades will be forgotten if he scores against West Ham and helps claim a victory for Manchester United.

The England international was in the headlines once again this week, missing Man United’s training session the morning after a night out in Belfast.

Rashford scored five minutes into their match against Wolves and Deeney believes another good performance could help put the whole situation behind him.

“If Rashford scores against West Ham tomorrow and United win, then his drinking session will be put to the back of most people’s minds,” the former Watford striker wrote for The Sun on Saturday (3 February).

One to watch for West Ham

There is no doubt that Rashford is a brilliant player capable of moments of magic. However, the forward is far too inconsistent for a Man United player.

The expectations at Old Trafford are massive, having been set by Sir Alex Ferguson throughout his many years at the club.

The Hammers will be wondering exactly which Rashford is going to show up against them on Sunday 4 February, with many hoping that the forward will have a poor game.

His performances this season are a far cry from the last campaign, having netted 17 Premier League goals and recorded another five assists.

Of course, David Moyes will be preparing his players to face the best version of Rashford, who will be likely to face Vladimir Coufal after serving his red-card suspension.

The 26-year-old was only used as a substitute when the two sides last met, coming on with half an hour to go but failing to make the desired impression at London Stadium. Most will be hoping for more of the same.
