GLOWING; Fabrizio Romano has latest update on Kalvin Phillips to Everton after contact made.

Everton have made midfield their transfer priority before the summer slams shut.

That much is already abundantly clear.

After all, Everton’s efforts to sign Kalvin Phillips on loan continue to be documented, with update after update hinting at progression without anything ever seemingly changing

Kalvin Phillips #4 of Manchester City passes in a pre-season match at Ohio Stadium on August 03, 2024 in Columbus, Ohio.

The Toffees admire the player, as does Sean Dyche, and the player wants to leave. A deal must therefore be struck with the selling club, but they will command a hefty sum for a one-year loan.

Fortunately, Fabrizio Romano is on hand to finally add something of note to the story.

Fabrizio Romano delivers Kalvin Phillips update

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Italian transfer journalist sought to provide the latest on Everton’s unsuccessful efforts to strike a deal with Manchester City thus far.

Having already been busy in the window, their lack of funds lends to completing loan deals to end the window, but given his wages and the £42m spent on his services, Pep Guardiola is unlikely to allow the midfield to leave for nothing, even if it is temporarily.

So, the Toffees must consider how much they really need the 28-year-old, and if the financial sacrifice would be worth it for his talents.

Romano claimed: ‘Everton have an interest in Kalvin Phillips, not only Everton, but Everton are well informed on the situation

‘They have already made some contact with people close to the player to be aware of the situation around Kalvin Phillips, I still expect him to leave Manchester City if they receive a good proposal.

Two other attacking examples then spring to mind, where the reporter attested that both Luis Diaz and Mohammed Kudus were desperate to join the Toffees, only to then move to Liverpool and West Ham United respectively.

Even this summer’s Yankuba Minteh deal, where the winger reportedly wanted Everton as a priority, fell through as he opted for Brighton and Hove Albion instead.
