IMPRESIVE; ‘Bids in for four players’ and Wolves duo linked as Stoke City transfer business gets serious.

Latest Stoke City transfer news from StokeonTrentLive as pressure grows for deals ahead of season opener against Coventry City on Saturday

Stoke City are believed to have bids in for four players and other deals in negotiation as transfer business accelerates on the eve of the season.

Stoke are hoping to still add important pieces to Steven Schumacher’s squad, with a couple of deals even possible before the opening day against Coventry on Saturday (12.30pm kick-off).

StokeonTrentLive understands that Leicester striker Tom Cannon remains a serious target and there could yet be returns for Ki-Jana Hoever and Luke Cundle, who both ended last season strongly on loan from Wolves.

There are two young midfielders and two further players from top Premier League clubs who could join on loan.

There are concerns about muscle injuries coming at the end of pre-season, with Bae Junho, Enda Stevens and Sam Gallagher joining Michael Rose, Ben Pearson and Ryan Mmaee in the treatment room.

Mmaee is well again after tonsillitis and could quickly be back involved despite missing friendlies. But the absences coming at the same time make the core of the squad difficult to assess at this stage of the window.

There will be players leaving too, but plates are spinning with three and a bit weeks to go until deadline.
