Mikel Arteta and Arsenal made a better show of challenging for the 2023–24 Premier League title than in 2022–23, but ultimately they had to settle for the second spot and yet another trophyless season.

Despite scoring the second most goals in the English top flight, the Gunners could do with an upgrade on Gabriel Jesus. While Kai Havertz has shown he can rise to the occasion at times, the German is far from prolific and cannot be counted on in a pinch.

 

 

It thus comes as no surprise that a prolific new striker could help elevate the North Londoners to a higher level and even propel a concentrated effort at securing silverware. The likes of Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney have been linked with a move to the Emirates but the Gunners appear to have identified the Iberian Peninsula to scout their man.

Former Brighton man Viktor Gyokeres has been setting the scoring charts on fire since moving to Sporting CP from Coventry City in the summer of 2023.

 

 

According to Aaron Dominguez via Fichajes, the 26-year-old is now ready to return to English shores and has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal. Having already strengthened their backline by securing Riccardo Calafiori, the Gunners can make another statement this summer by bringing in Gyokeres.

 

 

However, while personal terms might be agreed with Arsenal, they still have to convince Sporting CP to sell their standout player. While the Portuguese giants might not be averse to a sale, it will take a mammoth offer of around €80 million for them to blink first.

 

Mikel Arteta has identified Gyokeres as the ideal striker for his team, noting his combination of power, technique, and prolific goal-scoring ability. Bringing the Swede to London could revitalize Arsenal’s attack,
