INTERESTING NEWS; Southampton ‘plot’ transfer for West Brom star as Liverpool winger of interest.

West Brom’s top scorer for the last two seasons has reported transfer interest from the Premier League.

Southampton have an interest in signing West Brom forward Brandon Thomas-Asante, according to a report.

According to Football Insider, the Saints are ‘plotting’ a move for BTA after losing Che Adams on a free transfer to Torino. Adams led the line regularly for Russell Martin‘s side last season, and they will now need to bolster their front line as they gear up for their Premier League return.

The 25-year-old has now been identified as a possible replacement for Adams. He has finished as the Baggies’ top scorer for the last two seasons. In the last campaign, Thomas Asante scored 25 goals in 43 games in all competitions as WBA finished in the play-offs, eventually losing to Southampton.

Thomas-Asante is under contract at the Hawthorns until the summer of 2025, and now Carlos Corberan and the transfer committee might have to consider what is the best course of action. He’s been a key player for the club since his arrival, but there are a lack of forward options, and replacing a player of his ability will be a tough ask.

West Brom bought Thomas-Asante from Salford City in August 2022 for a fee of around £300,000. He most recently spoke of his pride at representing Ghana after making his international debut, and spoke about his aims and objectives for the upcoming campaign.

“I’m feeling good and it was a really good summer,” he said to the official club website.

“For me, pre-season has always been a time to prepare for the campaign ahead and as a player who likes to impose myself on the opposition, I kind of see pre-season as being in the lab and getting my body right for the challenges ahead.

“I wanted to get more out of last year, but you’re always looking to improve more and more and that’s what I’ll be doing this time around too.”
