A replica shirt shouldn’t cost £80, we are charging £58 – Newcastle United Premier League rival
How much should a Newcastle United replica shirt be?
Indeed, how much should any Premier League club replica shirt cost?
Should a maximum price be imposed by the Premier League for all clubs to charge, then no club can claim lower revenues disadvantage them due to playing fair, whilst their rival(s) charges far higher prices?
Anyhow, one Premier League club has proactively bucked the trend…
First of all though, from a Newcastle United perspective, the new Adidas 2024/25 home shirt went on sale earlier this month.
The new NUFC prices:
Adult replica shirts – £80
Junior replica shirts – £55
Authentic replica match shirts – £110
This then could be compared to other major Premier League clubs that Newcastle United are trying to compete with, on and off the pitch:
Newcastle United (Adidas) – £80 adult, £55 youth, £110 just like the players
Tottenham (Nike) – £85 adult, £65 youth, £125 just like the players
Arsenal (Adidas) – £80 adult, £55 youth, £110 just like the players
Manchester City (Nike) – £80 adult, £60 youth, £125 just like the players
Manchester City (Puma) – £80 adult, £60 youth, £110 just like the players
Chelsea haven’t launched their new home shirt or said how much it will be when they do
Manchester United the same position as Chelsea, nothing yet.
However, looking at what these two clubs charged for the 2023/24 home shirts, gives us a very good guide. Last season Man U charged £80 for an adult replica home shirt. Chelsea charging £79.95 for their adult replica shirts.
Fair to say I reckon that both Man U and Chelsea will be putting those prices up for their new 2024/25 shirts, charging more than Newcastle United are for theirs.
That is the ongoing trend, all major clubs charge more and more, year on year.
