‘I can’t believe that’s allowed’… Alan Brazil says Everton did something he really didn’t like vs Tottenham

Everton’s 2-2 draw with Spurs on Saturday came with its fair share of drama and controversy, now Alan Brazil has added his view.

Everton scored dramatically late in the game through Jarrad Branthwaite however it was no less than the performance deserved.

Everton outperformed Ange Postecoglou’s side in expected goals during the 2-2 draw but ultimately it was two scrappy set pieces that earned the Toffees a point.

The point was huge for Sean Dyche and has left Joe Cole with the firm belief that Everton will be fine and avoid relegation based on that display.

But in the game, Alan Brazil didn’t like one thing he saw from Everton.

Alan Brazil didn’t like Everton’s first goal

Speaking on talkSPORT on Wednesday morning, Brazil and Ally McCoist were both discussing Everton’s goals from Saturday.

McCoist had begun by slamming the Spurs keeper, Guglielmo Vicario for his role in the goals as Dyche clearly targeted him.

“That keeper has been excellent since he came to Spurs, Vicario. However, he was culpable for the goal against Man City in the cup, where it was from a corner. And Sean Dyche and Everton played on that, particularly in the first half.”

To this, Brazil then responded by admitting that he didn’t like what he’d seen from the Blues.

“By the way I don’t like it, I think it’s impeding the goalkeeper. I can’t believe that’s allowed. They are intentionally stopping the keeper from coming. If there is any contact [it’s a] free-kick.

“I just don’t like it. I thought we were going to stop all that but as usual, it lasts about three weeks and then it’s just forgotten about, like time wasting now.”

Brazil also lauds the commitment of Dyche’s side

Continuing, Brazil also praised Everton as he lauded their commitment and fight to grab a point late on.

“I’m not trying to protect goalies,” he explained.

“That last goal to Everton. Well done Everton for showing commitment and battle,” Brazil raved, before slamming Vicario for his terrible goalkeeping.

“But when he is nodding it in a yard from the line that’s garbage. He’s out there and then he backpedals onto his line, not good.”

Everton’s commitment during set pieces could be a massive strength going forward in the relegation battle.
