Data experts predict how the Sky Bet Championship relegation battle will unfold.

With over 80 percent of matches now played, the Sky Bet Championship is ticking towards its conclusion for the 2023/24 season but the drama remains.

The battles for winning the title, securing play-off qualification and surviving relegation are fierce, with the outcomes very unpredictable. Leeds United, albeit with an extra game played, are the new leaders after beating Millwall but Leicester City are just one goal difference behind, while Ipswich Town are merely one point below.

Meanwhile, Southampton and West Bromwich Albion look comfortable in the top six with 15 and eight-point buffers respectively but the final play-off spot is still up for grabs. It’s the battle of the cities as Norwich are three points clear of seventh but Hull and Coventry have games in hand. Preston North End, Middlesbrough and Cardiff are also hanging on below.

Sheffield Wednesday were crushed 6-0 by Ipswich Town at the weekend but four wins in the five games previous have given them a fighting chance. Just five points separate Wednesday in 23rd and Millwall in 16th, with no certainty over second-tier football for several teams.

Blackburn Rovers, Plymouth Argyle, Stoke City, Queens Park Rangers, Birmingham City and Huddersfield are all sandwiched in between, creating chaos in the relegation fight.

Which teams, then, are the most likely to be relegated? Which sides will qualify for the play-offs? And who will walk away with the title? Based on the latest data simulations from Net World Sports, here’s how the Championship table is predicted to finish.

Here's how the English second tier is expected to pan out.
