Manchester City continued their fine form tonight in the Premier League, with Phil Foden scoring a brilliant hat-trick against Brentford
It was an efficient performance from City, with the players showing cool heads to come from behind after Neal Maupay gave the hosts a surprise lead.
Foden scored all three of his goals inside the box, as he once again played as an attacking midfielder, alongside the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Julian Alvarez.
Phil Foden leaves Michail Antonio stunned as he hits hat-trick for Manchester City for Brentford
Foden was playing centrally again tonight for City, where he has had so much success this season
It was Bernardo Silva who operated out on the right, with Foden inside, along with De Bruyne and Alvarez – and Foden really did thrive.
He linked up superbly with the Belgian and Alvarez, and also got in and around Erling Haaland, who set him up for his final goal.
Speaking after the game, West Ham United striker Michail Antonio, who was a guest on MNF, was left very impressed by Foden, who Alan Smith named as his Man of the Match.
He said on Sky Sports: “Technically sound, quality vision. He’s got it all to be fair. I feel like he should be playing more for England.
“You see today, he’s got it all. He’s got the pace, the touch, the technique, a great finish. The awareness of positions he needs to be in on the field, he can play multiple positions. At 23 *puffs cheeks* I don’t even know!
Foden in the form of his life
Last season wasn’t the best for Foden, but he is now truly in the form of his life.
The return of De Bruyne has not affected him whatsoever so far which is really encouraging. Some felt De Bruyne coming back in might have seen Foden start having less of an impact.
But the £225,000-week maestro is still dominating games, and at the moment you just back him to score or assist whoever the opponents are.
