Southampton striker Che Adams sat down with the club’s media team this week and reflected on his near five-year spell at the club.

Che Adams has enjoyed a productive campaign for the Saints, netting 12 goals whilst laying on five assists across all competitions.

The 27-year-old was the subject of interest last summer and in Janaury but remains a Southampton player.

Adams’ contract is due to expire at the end of the season, meaning he’ll be free to depart the club at the end of June.

Amid what could be his final few games in a Saints shirt, the Scotland international was interviewed by the media and dropped a subtle hint about his future.

Adams has been a fixture of Southampton’s team since arriving from Birmingham City in 2019 for a reported fee worth in the region of £15m.

The imposing centre-forward has racked up almost 200 appearances for the South Coasters, with many of those coming in the Premier League.

Though, his time at St Mary’s appears to be coming to an end as his contract is due to expire in the coming months.

Speaking to the Southampton website on Tuesday, he reflected on his spell at the club: “When your kid is born there and you’ve had most of your life and your football down there, it’s always special, and Southampton will always play a part in our lives and especially my daughter’s life,” Adams said.

“A club like Southampton is a Premier League team. Any team that’s come here this season can see how well established and how big the club is, in terms of fanbase and in terms of staff around the place as well.

“It’s a Premier League club, but for me personally it’s just about – I said it in a statement at the end of last season – getting the club back to where it should be again, because that’s where we deserve to be.”

Will Che Adams sign a new contract at Southampton?

Southampton offered Adams a new three-year deal last summer, which included a role as vice-captain, as per Daily Echo journalist Alfie House.

At the time of the report, it was claimed that the offer remained on the table for the Leicester-born forward if he chose to sign and one would assume that is still the case several months later.

Adams is a key figure in Martin’s side and the club will be desperate to keep ahold of their talisman beyond the summer.

Perhaps a lot rests on what division they find themselves in.
