DONT MISS OUT; SQUAD LATEST FROM DODDS.

Mike Dodds has given an assessment of Luis Hemir, Callum Styles and Dan Ballard ahead of tonight’s game against Leicester City.

GIVING A STRIKER A RUN OF GAMES

“That’s something we’ve definitely discussed internally with the coaching staff, I think we change slightly in terms of our in-possession stuff in terms of the game. I just felt that we needed a focal point in the game to play off and onto and hence the reason why we went with Hemir. In the main I felt okay, I think he could have had a little more service. I felt we started the first 15 minutes of the game where our quality with the ball could have been better, once we settled a little bit more into the game we had pockets of play where we looked comfortable in possession but without really damaging them. I just think in terms of the way we set up we needed a focal point and to be fair to Hemir he’s working really hard, he’s working really really hard. I think if I see the players on the training pitch all in, they’re all in the football club, then they’ll get an opportunity and Hemir has done that so long may that continue.”

CALLUM STYLES

“We’re still getting to know Callum, I’ll be honest with you. He’s got really good technique, when he was at Barnsley he played so many positions. He played left back, left wing back, as an eight, he went on loan to Millwall and played predominantly down the left side. We used him off the right but obviously in a very narrow position in and out of possession because of some of the threats that Norwich had with the ball, and we also felt that he could pick up some dangerous positions when we had it. The pleasing thing from the game was that we did do that at times, albeit not frequently enough. What we worked on I did see pockets of. Callum, fortunately or unfortunately, is very versatile and as a head coach those kinds of players were worth their weight in gold. You can slot him into different positions on the pitch and he is a great kid, he asks a lot of questions. Right now if I’m being brutally honest I don’t know exactly what his best position is, I know where he’s played previously and we’ve got to find the best way to utilise him here.”

DAN BALLARD

“If you look at the first game that I took, it was glaringly obvious straight away how important Dan was to us. It’s been a big blow to lose him, but hopefully we’ve made the most of it. During international breaks, Dan goes away with his country, and he’s robust and plays a lot of games for us and trains every day. When he got the suspension, we gave him a few days to mentally refresh himself, and in the last seven to ten days, since he’s come back, he’s been bouncy and bubbly, and it’s almost like signing a new player. I’m really looking forward to him being back in the squad and the team, and what I think he has done in his absence is show just how important he is to us. I said the last time I took the team that I felt he was one of the best defenders in the league, and I think not having him in the team has just cemented that statement.”
