Amani Richards admitted it was a tough one to take after the Leicester City Development Squad fell to a 3-2 loss in the Premier League Cup.

– LCFC’s Development Squad lost 3-2 to Crystal Palace on Friday afternoon
– Leicester were knocked out of the Premier League Cup Round of 16
– City were the better side in the game, according to forward Amani Richards

Richards came off the bench at Crystal Palace Academy at half-time to find the net just minutes later, but this, along with a late Chris Popov strike couldn’t spark a comeback in the cup.

Following the defeat to Crystal Palace in Kent, the striker composed his thoughts to discuss the match following full-time on Friday.

“It’s another tough one to take to be honest,” the 19-year-old stated. “We didn’t start the game very well; we started the second half well but it’s a difficult one to take and we go again when we’re back in on Monday.”

Richards & Popov Net In Cup Defeat

Amani Richards and Chris Popov scored in the Leicester City Development Squad’s 3-2 reverse at Crystal Palace in the Premier League Cup.

On his goal, and whether he takes confidence from it, the forward admitted that it’s hard to think outside of the bigger picture at the moment.

He added: “It’s always good to get on the scoresheet but at the end of the day, the boys didn’t do what we set out to do so it’s not a great feeling right now.

“I think it’s very easy to see we were the better side again. It’s been like that the last few weeks so there’s a lot of confidence throughout the team and we just need to take that into the next game.”
