ANDONI Iraola said it was “really nice” to see Cherries’ talented youngsters head out on loan during the January transfer window

After making his professional debut for Cherries in the FA Cup in January, Daniel Adu-Adjei is experiencing his first taste of the Football League with a spell at League One Leyton Orient.

After injury cut short his spell with League One Cheltenham Town, Owen Bevan has linked up with Hibernian, whilst Ben Greenwood also departed on deadline day, temporarily joining Eastleigh.

Asked about the youth players heading out on loan, Iraola told the Daily Echo: “It’s really nice that some of the players that have been helping us, that have been playing in the development squad have gone on loan.

“Ben Greenwood, Daniel Adu-Adjei, Owen Bevan, for sure I am missing more.

“I think it’s good news for the club also, because they are advancing their progress.

“They’ve done really well with their team and I hope everyone has also this this progression in their careers and they can come back and help us here.”

As well as featuring for the development squad, Cherries’ youngsters often trained with the first team.

Iraola continued: “With the young players, I don’t think the club or the coaches have to look at what’s best for the first team, what’s best for the second team.

“I think it’s about the players, what’s best for their evolution as a player.

“It’s good they go there, they fight with strong competition, try to earn their minutes.

“That’s the number one priority.

“There will be other players that can help us in trainings, but I think we have to look at what’s the best thing for Daniel, what’s the best thing for Ben, what’s the best thing for Owen.

“And take the decisions according to this.”
